4-Week Pottery Wheel Bootcamp (Intermediate Skill Level Required) Bridge beginner to advanced by focusing on technique. This structured class runs 4 consecutive Tuesdays (January 13th-February 3rd). Take your wheel throwing skills to the next level in this focused, technique-driven course. Designed to bridge the gap between intermediate and advanced pottery, this structured 4-week class emphasizes precision, consistency, and control. Through guided demonstrations, hands-on practice, and professional feedback, you’ll work to refine your technique, troubleshoot those pesky “what went wrong” moments, and push your creative and technical limits. This class is all about process over product — developing mastery through repetition and mindful making. Creating a good piece comes second to understanding how it was made. What to expect: Quick and improved centering Throw thinner Reduce thick walls Pull clay high, above 10 inches Create spheres and doughnuts Using tools to shape and texturize Create a fluted neck Pottery Wheel Bootcamp is a course based on improving techniques through practice and professional assistance. A class where creating a good piece is secondary to how it was made. This class is all about learning and building your skills, so finished pieces aren’t the main focus. If you’d like to keep something you make, there’s an additional fee of $6.00 per pound per firing. Class includes 4 sessions, each of which is 3 hours, for a cost of $275.00. Current enrolled students may work during ‘open studio’ hours for $10.00 per hour. OPEN STUDIO The purchase of a weekly class package gives students access to our Open Studio. Open Studio hours are available for currently enrolled students for $10/hour. After the class period ends, the open studio fee increases from $10 to $25 per hour and is available for 2 weeks after the class package has ended. To keep the discounted rate, you may enroll in the next available session before your current class ends. CANCELLATIONS Classes are run consecutively (excluding holiday closures); we do not offer make-ups or studio time for missed classes. If you have an emergency and cannot make it to class, please give us a call at (941) 359-2773. In the rare event the studio has to close unexpectedly, make-up dates will be provided. FEES Prices listed include a 3% convenience fee on the order total and applicable sales tax on clay and supplies. *Prices, rates and fees are subject to change. COLLECTING YOUR WORK Once your pieces have been glazed; you can come pick them up! Please call ahead of time to make sure your work is ready. Your pieces must be picked up within 30 days or they will become Sarasota Clay Company property. LIABILITY Sarasota Clay Company and its employees are not liable or responsible for any accidental injury to students or any loss or damage to personal possessions. PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEO Sarasota Clay Company reserves the right to take photographs and video recordings during classes, which may include students and their work. These images and videos may be used for promotional purposes in any media, in perpetuity, without compensation to students. FINISHED WORK Every effort is made to support students in producing well-made pieces. Due to the unpredictable nature of ceramics, Sarasota Clay Company and its team cannot be held liable for outcomes like cracking, breakage, kiln mishaps, or results that differ from your expectations.
