Personal Totems Workshop with Natasha Dikareva All Skill Levels Welcome! Natasha Dikareva will guide you through creating your own personal totem - a ceramic sculpture that embodies symbols, stories, and imagery meaningful to your life journey. In this one-day workshop, Natasha Dikareva will guide you through creating your own personal totem - a ceramic sculpture that embodies symbols, stories, and imagery meaningful to your life journey. We'll begin with a slide presentation exploring totem traditions, symbolic imagery, and contemporary interpretations, followed by demonstrations of hand-building techniques including slab construction, and methods for both wall-hanging and free-standing sculptures. After building your piece, you'll learn surface techniques including how to apply slips and underglazes, and master the sgraffito technique to carve through layers of color. These methods will help you create dynamic textures, patterns, and symbolic details that bring your totem to life. Throughout the workshop, Dikareva will work collaboratively with students to nurture personal iconography and develop meaningful forms through creative exploration and hands-on instruction. Your completed piece will be left to dry and will be available for pickup after firing. All skill levels are welcome! What to bring: -Apron/towel -Comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty -Beginner tool set (available for purchase at the studio) -Notebook/sketchbook/pen or pencil -Water -Snacks! -No expectations and a good attitude ready for fun!

Cancellation Policy
CANCELLATIONS Students must cancel at least 24 hours before their scheduled appointment or class to avoid a cancellation fee of 100% for the service cost. If you have an emergency and cannot make it to class, please give us a call at (941) 359-2773. In the rare event the studio has to close unexpectedly, make-up dates will be provided. FEES Prices listed include a 3% convenience fee on the order total and applicable sales tax on clay and supplies. *Prices, rates and fees are subject to change COLLECTING YOUR WORK Your finished pieces will be ready to pick up 2 weeks from your appointment date. Please call ahead of time to make sure your work is ready. Pieces left for more than 30 days will become property of Sarasota Clay Company. LIABILITY Sarasota Clay Company and its employees are not liable or responsible for any accidental injury to students or any loss or damage to personal possessions. PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEO Sarasota Clay Company reserves the right to take photographs and video recordings during classes, which may include students and their work. These images and videos may be used for promotional purposes in any media, in perpetuity, without compensation to students. FINISHED WORK Every effort is made to support students in producing well-made pieces.
