Service Description
Join us for a special 2-part Raku Fish Workshop featuring master ceramic artists Alan and Rosemary Bennett! Dive into the Bennetts’ signature process as you create your own vibrant, expressive sea-life sculpture from start to finish. Week 1 — January 29th Alan and Rosemary will demonstrate their construction techniques and guide you through building fish and other sea-life forms. Please bring your own lunch. Week 2 — February 5th We’ll glaze and Raku fire the pieces created in Week 1. Lunch will be provided. Inspired by their experiences on and around the water, the Bennetts begin each piece with quick sketches before sculpting the basic forms in stoneware clay. After hollowing the structures, they add detailed features like teeth and eyes. Once bisque fired, the pieces are glazed and finished using the ancient Japanese Raku firing method—resulting in artwork full of color, texture, and movement. Come learn from two extraordinary artists and create a truly one-of-a-kind work of art! Class includes 2 sessions, each of which is 10am-4pm, for a cost $495 (+ 3% convenience fee) and includes all instruction, materials, and firings.
